Safetronic 2021
Premiere for Fraunhofer IKS
Around 100 experts in the holistic safety of road vehicles took part in the 20th Safetronic International Conference. Above all, the quality and balance of the lecture program appealed to the participants.
Meeting in person once again and being able to exchange ideas directly, face to face, despite the strict Corona measures: The approximately 60 experts in the Schwabenlandhalle in Stuttgart-Fellbach obviously enjoyed this. The 20th international Safetronic symposium was held there on November 16 and 17.
Another 40 guests followed the leading event for safety in the automotive sector on their computers via livestream. The hybrid solution was well received by the participants. For example, Simon Fürst, Principal Expert Autonomous Driving Technologies at the BMW Group, joined the screen at the start of the second day and reported on the updates to the ISO TS 5083 standard. This contribution was part of the program item “Updates from standardization” and was in demand among the participants, which was reflected not only by the numerous requests to speak.
The focus was on innovative safety concepts from the perspective of connectivity, autonomous driving, artificial intelligence and electrification. The various industry players, e.g. from Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche, Audi, ETAS or Continental Automotive, were able to contribute with their presentations, both present and virtual, and provide the community with news. Among them were, in addition to BMW, other members of the advisory board from Robert Bosch, Mercedes-Benz, Vay Technology as well as Stellantis.
In the summer of 2021, the Fraunhofer Institute for Cognitive Systems IKS had taken over the organization of the established industry event from Carl Hanser Verlag. For apl. Prof. Dr. habil. Mario Trapp, Institute Director of Fraunhofer IKS, it was particularly important to ensure “the continuity of Safetronic”. And this in terms of quality at the highest level and also manufacturer independence.
The next date of the “Safetronic” for the year 2022 is already fixed. It will take place again in Stuttgart on November 8 and 9.
